If I had not sat down to watch a repeat of the second half of the Academy Awards presentation last night, I would certainly have missed out on this absolute beauty of a story. I wonder how is it that I could have seen or heard nothing about the existence of this charming little piece of work, up until last night. And I am sure this is something every book lover would not want to miss! So if you have yet to have had the pleasure of experiencing this lovingly made animation, here you go….. enjoy!
I saw this about a month ago, and I didn’t even know that it was in the running to win an Oscar.
So so heartbreaking, this.
Yes, quite quite heartbreaking, indeed. But so achingly beautiful. A well deserved Oscar winner, no doubt.
Speaking of the Oscars and of heartbreaking beauty, have you by any chance watched the film Albert Nobbs? It was in the running for both Best Actress & Best Supporting Actress. I found the story of how a woman who has to live her life by passing off as a man in order to find work and survive in 19th century Ireland, rather beautifully told. Although again, it was done in heartbreaking fashion.
